It’s hard to believe that it has been over twenty years since Arnie graced the silver screen as the shotgun wielding, motorcycle riding, humanity saving robot from the future in Terminator II: Judgement Day. This undeniable classic, produced and directed by James Cameron, was on the bleeding edge of film special effects. Computer generated imagery was in its very first incarnations and it was the first time that a main character had been partially computer generated. When viewed today, this classic still stands up quite well to the test of time.
This really was the movie franchise that cemented Arnold Schwarzenegger as a household name. Long before he was the ‘Governator of California’, he was both the potential destroyer and protector of the human race. But that story didn’t end with the second instalment. There have been a series of television shows, video games, and movies that have followed in the footsteps of Terminator 2, and the media train shows absolutely no sign of slowing down.
The story of Terminator II follows Sarah Connor and her young son John as they try and escape yet another deadly robot sent from the future to destroy them. This advanced T-1000 model had the ability to shapeshift and regenerate and was generally even more terrifying than the first robot sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor in the first movie. Ironically, the same type of machine that was sent to kill Sarah in the first movie was now trying to protect her.
Silver Screen to Player’s Screen
The Terminator II slot is a five reel game that utilises Microgaming’s 243 ways to win payline systems. What does this mean for the player? Well, besides the fact that there are two hundred and forty three ways to win instead of your typical five or ten, it means that matching symbols need only be in reels that are adjacent to each other in order to form a winning combination.
When you first load into this game, there’s no doubting what the subject matter is. A cold and mechanical feel is immediately apparent with hues of dark blue, black and silver dominating. Sound effects and music for this slot are taken straight from the movie, which adds a feeling of authenticity.
While there are also classic slot symbols in the form of hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades, the real stars of the show are the characters from the movie itself. The glowing red eyes and shiny chrome exterior of the T-800 is the first and lowest value slot symbol. This is followed by Sarah Connor, the T-1000, John Connor and finally the Terminator himself, Arnold. Five matching symbols will win the player six, nine, twelve, fifteen and twenty five coins respectively.
There is also T2 symbol with a fiery background that serves as a wild as well as the time traveling blue portal that functions as a scatter symbol.
If free spins are your thing, you’ll be pleased to know that it is one of the main bonus features for the Terminator 2 slot. Simply land between three and five of the blue portal scatter symbols to kick off ten free spins.
Fans of the movie will also be thrilled to see the T-800 vision feature. This is a randomly activated prize in the base game where the screen turns red and a targeting system moves around the reels. Hope it lands on a high value symbol because cash rewards are handed out!
